Welcome to the website of the Sir Richard May Trust.

The Trust, established in the memory of the late Sir Richard May, makes awards in connection with the advancement of education in the field of international humanitarian law.

Aims of the Sir Richard May Trust

The aim of the Trust is to advance awareness of international humanitarian law through education, with a particular focus on promoting awareness of the rule of international law in developing countries.

The Trust will sponsor on an annual basis a law student or recently qualified law graduate from a developing country as an intern at one of the international criminal tribunal established by international institutions to investigate war crimes committed in recent or future conflicts.

In order to assist the Trust in meeting its aims, any successful applicant will be required to demonstrate to the Trust how he or she will contribute to raising awareness of international humanitarian law in his or her home country.
